The Final Connecting Pieces To The Renovation Puzzle

Over at Kate Marker Interiors, we’re firm believers in creating homes with style and functionality. Although some spots deserve a gorgeous ‘wow’ moment, which is to say you cannot combine the two? Especially when it comes to creating your home. I had these same appliances installed in my previous home and LOVED them. So, I knew I wanted to spread the love and add them to my new cooking corner.

When it comes to deciding on appliances for your space, these pieces will serve as an essential and functional part of your everyday tasks. They’re also a significant investment for your home which is why it’s important to do your research and review the different functions that you deem essential.

Since I entered the project with clear objectives, a desire to repurpose previously installed items, and familiarity with their website, I was confident in my ability to search and find what I needed without any obstacles. Especially since they have such a wide variety of options that assisted with making me feel confident. There were a few specialty questions I needed answered directly from their team that also went swimmingly. I quickly got connected to the Appliance Connection team to finalize my selections and get everything sorted. My appliances even arrived timely with the install of the kitchen cabinets, which speaking of kitchen details, lets get into it!

Without further ado, we’re going to start strong with this stunner— the Thermador Hood! This piece has a custom plaster hood cover around the range system itself which brings together the functionality and beauty together.

The custom hood around the Thermador Hood was built onsite by the carpenter. He crafted rounded edges to give this piece a softer feel to counterplay the juxtaposition of all the straight edges found throughout the rest of the kitchen. The decision to have rounded edges also ties in with the soft edge of the arches found in the entryways.

To keep things consistent and seamlessly blend, I used the same Neo plaster from the powder room here. Adding in this touch of plasterwork is one of my favorite ways to bring in a new medium, especially in this kitchen that has the typical marble and wood elements. This texture can subtly stand out without becoming the main focus or taking away from the other striking details or appliances, such as the range below the hood.

Now for my favorite trick of all, hiding things in plain sight. In the image below, you’ll find my dishwasher, refrigerator, and freezer! Any guesses on where they are located? We love a simplistic kitchen so being to blend appliances into plain sight, when we can, helps keep the mindset alive when crafting a kitchen.

The appliances I selected to make this possible was the Bosch Panel Ready Dishwasher and Thermidor Panel Ready Refrigerator. If this is something you also want to do during your own renovation, double check their panel ready since this will allow them to be well, paneled. This was my second time doing this in my kitchen— the first time I was able to live with this type of decision was at the #markermasseria kitchen.

Here, I only have one fridge and freezer in the kitchen vs. before when I had two on either side of the range.

From style to the general size of the kitchens, when comparing my old one to my new one, these two spaces could not be more different. Since there as limited space to work with, again, we had to get creative! When you’re working with limited space, the key to maximizing your space is to find pieces that serve multiple functions which is exactly what this appliance offers.

The Smeg Wall/Steam Micro Oven makes me feel so high-tech when I use it to warm up my coffee for the third time, or when I’m trying to get the girls dinner prepped and warmed quickly before heading out the door to yet another sports outting! In addition to its dual functionality, this appliance also seamlessly fits into my pantry.

Each day, as I revel in the charm of my kitchen, I'm reminded of the seamless process of finding appliances that not only enhance its style but also reflect a smart investment—thanks to Appliance Connection making it all possible.
