Entryway Beauties

Whether it's about creating an intricate design or creating a welcoming embrace, your doorway can be a captivating feature! Since I’ve used Simpson Door Company on past projects, I knew my tried and true vendor was the right group to lean on for my selections when it came to the #loveitorlistitbarringtonproject.

Throughout my new home, I added in various styles of the classic KMI wood selection, white oak. I selected four arched white oak doors, one set of white oak French Doors, and a Dutch Door that was painted to match my front door.

Off of the kitchen is where you’ll encounter the first of the many Simpson Door selections. It’s also the first introduction to the arched entryways that can later be found in the primary room. The simplicity of this wall is complemented and juxtaposed with the dark bookshelf found in the room before. Having a door that has its own distinct and pretty details, such as tongue and groove paneling with a striking brass knob, allows it to stand on its own. No need for much beyond the door which ties into my want of keeping the details of the wall simple.

Three of the four arched doors can be found in my primary bedroom. As I’ve previously stated, this space is not the biggest. So, I leaned into the details to draw you in and create a captivating environment, while also allowing these moments to take up the space. When adding arched entryways between rooms or within them, they draw a person into the next space and make them feel tucked in and filled up.

Another fun thing to note about the primary bedroom is that it’s both a conversion and an addition to the original home! Before this became our primary bedroom, it once resided as the original garage. Since there was already a cutout on the front and limited space to work with on the inside, I thought about the different ways I could add in another function or expand beyond what I was seeing which is when it came to me— think beyond the room and open the door to another fun possibility!

Adding in a set of French doors, allowed for the small porch area on the other side of the door to be easily accessed from the primary bedroom, making it feel cozy while also creating a little ensuite patio moment. The installation of French doors also helped tie in the traditional feel of this cape cod home too.

My family and I moved in during December, so we haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing this home during the summer yet but I’m counting down the days when I can open up the doors and enjoy a morning coffee on my patio before heading over to the studio.

Speaking of warmer weather, the landscaping will officially be complete which means there will be more to share on the exterior of this village charmer! I cannot wait to showcase the darling front door that’s painted in a bluestone that is matched with a painted Dutch Door off of my mudroom. More sweet details to come soon with the final reveal of the last door!
