Family dinners, belly laughs, and good times are often shared in the dining room of any house, complete with a great home cooked meal. I know for my family and I this holds true, as I am sure it does for many of you as well! That is why when it came time to make design decisions for the dining room, we carefully thought out each element; resulting in the perfect spot for meals with your loved ones!
As you can see from the “before” images the space allotted for the dining area is fairly tiny, and located in a place that normally wouldn’t be used for eating—giving us all the more reason to be drawn to this cottage. We love a good design challenge and that is exactly what this space was!
First order of business, create an intimate space for family gatherings by wainscoting the room with Benjamin Moore Wrought Iron paint which added that “wow” factor to what used to be an average threshold! Due to our space restraints, we took out the standard hinge doors in exchange for rustic sliding barn doors. We finished off the space with antique furniture finds and woven textures turning what could have been just any ole’ dining room into the ultimate interior designer’s dream!
